A Comforting Note on Peter’s Anniversary
This year the Hebrew date of Peter’s passing falls on 14 Sivan, or June 13. It is seven long years since he passed away. Tomorrow I shall recite the Mourners Kaddish for him at the synagogue. I do not think I have heard from Richard since my Peter passed away. Out of the blue, I received the following sweet note, just when I was feeling very down. Thank you, dear Richard, for your sweet kindness and thoughtfulness. You were always such a considerate young man. You have touched my heart so deeply. Thank you.

Hi Stella, I so hope you get this message. I just wanted to remind you all the amazing joy and love you gave to Peter. You renewed his faith in love and made him smile and laugh. I remember how he would smile when you would talk to him. You’d say something and he’d get that amazing smile that would almost happily say “I got her - she’s mine”. When he drove us to see the fireworks all those years ago, again you said something funny, and it was easy to see the joy, contentment, and love he had when he was with you. You acknowledged every dream of his and made him feel secure, special, and loved. I know we all wish he was still here. But that love does stay with you always. It was easy to see how much he cherished his time with you. Please always know that you kept his heart full of joy. Thinking of you always. What a wonderful world you gave to him and you gave to each other. Know that always, dear Stella. Richard Spector
